Race to the Sky 2013
URGENT CARE PLUS (and Women’s Park), 39 Neill Avenue, Helena, (Fri., Feb. 8, noon-3 p.m.)
Hwy. 12 into Helena, turn right on Benton Avenue, at Civic Center (stop light) follow Neill Avenue downhill one block. Women’s Park is on the right side just before Urgent Care Plus and another stop light.
LEWIS & CLARK FAIRGROUNDS (Fri., Feb. 8, 6-8:30 p.m.)
98 W. Custer Avenue, Helena , corner of Henderson & Custer, turn left on Henderson, follow Henderson to Fairgrounds. Tickets available at Urgent Care Plus.
HELENA TO CAMP RIMINI (Sat., Feb. 9, 10 a.m.)
Take Highway 12 (Helena side of McDonald Pass). At the bottom of McDonald Pass, turn left on Rimini Road and follow Rimini Road past Moose Creek Campground on the right. Watch for the snowmobile parking area on the right side of the road, park on right side of the road.
HELENA TO ELK PARK (Butte) (Sat., Feb. 9, 3 p.m.)
Follow Highway 15 from Helena to Butte (approximately 50 miles). Turn on Lowland Road (Exit 138), follow Lowland Road into the trees, follow to 367 Lowland Road (Pasquinzo property) and park on Lowland Road (end of plowing).
HI-COUNTRY SNACK FOODS, LINCOLN (Sun. Feb. 10, 2 p.m.)
Follow Highway 12 past Elliston and Avon. Turn right (north) at Highway 141 just beyond Avon, cross the railroad tracks, and follow Hwy. 141 for 34 miles to the end of the Helmville Road. At the stop sign intersecting Highway 141 and Highway 200, turn right (east) toward Lincoln and travel another 16 miles farther. Hi-Country Snack Foods (Hi-Country Beef Jerky Plant) is on the left side of the road when going toward Lincoln from the Helmville Road. Watch for the sign and race starts and finishes (350) right under the beautiful archway.
HI-COUNTRY SNACK FOODS TO WHITETAIL RANCH, OVANDO (Sun, Feb. 10, 6 p.m.)
From Lincoln, follow Hwy. 200 west toward Ovando. Turn right off Highway 200 at mile marker 53 (Dry Creek Road). Follow Dry Creek to White Tail Ranch which is about 7 1/2 miles on a plowed dirt road.
WHITETAIL RANCH TO SEELEY LAKE COMMUNITY CENTER (Mon., Feb. 11, 6 a.m. …)
Follow Dry Creek to Hwy. 200, turn right and head toward Clearwater Junction/Seeley Lake. Turn right onto Hwy. 83 at the big steer (literally) which is Clearwater Junction or mile marker 32. Follow Hwy. 83 North through Seeley Lake. The Community Center is on the right side of the road just north of town (big brown building).
HI-COUNTRY SNACK FOODS FINISH ARCHWAY, LINCOLN (Tues, Feb. 12, 6 p.m.-Feb. 13, 3 p.m.)

995 Carousel Way, (next to the Carousel), Great Northern District, just off Hwy. 12 behind Civic Center, Helena. Tickets available at Urgent Care Plus.
RACE ROUTE
The Race to the Sky continues to grow in its reputation as a competitive event dedicated to challenging both mushers and their teams. The Race is a challenge unequaled in the sport because it is the most mountainous trail offered in the sport of distance mushing.
The trail borders three nationally-designated wilderness areas and climbs to 6,000 feet. There is nothing like being behind a dog team on a moonlit night, shooting stars racing by, and the only sound within range is your own.
Trails are always subject to change depending upon conditions.
You can view the GPX files by using Google Earth. If you do not have, you can go and download at http://www.google.com/earth/index.html Once in Google, Click on File, then Open, Navigate to where you saved it. You will need to change the type that it is looking to GPS so it sees the files.
