2020 Race to the Sky Mushers

300 Mile Entries:

Clayton Perry is a 60 year old home center owner from Choteau, Montana.  He has been mushing for 10 years and races Alaskan huskies.  His dogs are from Swingley/Redington breeding.  In the lead will be Butte and Lincoln.  He is no stranger to Race to the Sky and has received the Best Cared for Team Award and Sportsmanship Award at the Race to the Sky.

Kevin Mathis is a 49 year old pharmacist from Monona, Iowa.  He has been mushing for 5 years and races Alaskan huskies.   In the lead will be Frozen, Ranger and French Fry.  His son got him interested in running sled dogs and he has run the Midnight Run and UP 200.  This will be his first Race to the Sky.

Jesse Flory is a 31 year old dog musher from Hesperus, Colorado.  He has been mushing for 9 years and races Alaskan huskies from the Buser and Kaiser bloodlines.  He got started by working a summer job at a tour kennel.   This is his first Race to the Sky and his first race.

Gabe Dunham is a 35 year old tour guide from Darby, Montana.  She has been mushing for 20 years and races Alaskan huskies.  In the lead will be Weasel and Foxy.   Last year, she received the Jack Beckstrom Best Cared for Team Award and finished in second place (in one of the coldest races in history).

Patrick Roy is a 33 year old musher from Paradise, Montana.  He was running dogs as a teen and got back into it last year, finishing the Race to the Sky 100 in fourth place.  In the lead will be Shout, Marlin and Torch.  He runs Alaskan huskies.

Jed Stephensen is a 36 year old ER nurse from Sandpoint, Idaho.   He has been mushing for 8 years, racing Alaskan/Inuit dogs.  In the lead will be Farra and Panda.  He got started helping Billy Snodgrass do dogsled tours in college.  This is his first Race to the Sky 100.

Jessie Royer is a 43 year old musher from Seeley Lake, Montana.  She has been mushing for 28 years and races Alaskan huskies from the J Team Kennel.   She finished the 2019 Iditarod in third place and was the highest placing female in 2008-2011 at Iditarod.  She received the Rookie of the Year award at her first Iditarod in 2001.  She won Race to the Sky 500 mile race as a teen in 1994, has raced the John Beargrease Marathon, the Wyoming Stage Stop, Iditarod, Canadian Challenge and Yukon Quest.  She just won the She is one competitive musher!

Damon Ramaker is a 39 year old nurse from Fountain, Minnesota.  He got his start skijoring and then he met Cindy Gallea.  Many of his dogs are Gallea background.  He has been mushing for 6 years, running Alaskan huskies.  He got his start skijoring with hunting dogs and then handled for Cindy Gallea and now running his own team.  He ran the 2018 and 2019 Race to the Sky 300 Mile Races.  In the lead will be Norma and Marshall.

Cindy Gallea is a 68 year old nurse practitioner from Wykoff, Minnesota.    She races Alaskan huskies and got her start while living in Northern Minnesota as a recreational dog musher.  She has been mushing for 32 years and races Alaskan huskies.  She came in second in the 1995 and 1997 Race to the Sky 500 mile races.  She has numerous finishes in the Iditarod.  In the lead will be Barack, Latte, Fin and Susan during the race.

100 Mile Entries:

Steve Madsen is a 55 year old attorney from Cougar, Washington.  Steve races Alaskan huskies and has been dog mushing for 28 years.  He got started skijoring with samoyeds when he was in law school.   In the lead will be Leopard and Scandal.  He has run Race to the Sky at least ten times and has also run the 2004 Iditarod.

Josi Thyr is a 26 year old musher from Seeley Lake, Montana.  She has been mushing for 12 years now racing Alaskan huskies out of her kennel There and Back Again Sled Dogs.  She received the 2016 Best Cared for Team Award at Race to the Sky and got started with her pet husky pulling her on rollerblades.

Steven Thomas is a 28 year old guide from Darby, Montana.  He has been mushing for 10 years and races Alaskan huskies.  In the lead will be Oreck and Dietrich.  He does dogsledding tours on the glacier in Alaska in the summer.  This is his first Race to the Sky.

Roy Etnire is a 64 year old millwright from Seeley Lake, Montana.  He operates Mystik North Sleddogs and has been mushing for 10 years.  He won the 2014 Eagle Cap 100 and the Race to the Sky 100 in 2013 and 2014.  He also received the Best Cared for Team Award at Race to the Sky.  In the lead will be Sidney and Chattie Kathy.  Roy runs Alaskan huskies.

Jane Devlin is from Bend, Oregon and has been mushing for about 14 years.  She races Siberian Huskies.  She got her start by rescuing Siberians and then attending Mushing Boot Camps.  Her dogs also compete in dog agility when they aren’t running down the trail.  She has run the Eagle Cap Extreme 62 and this is her first Race to the Sky 100.

Jordan Hillock is a 29 year old sports equipment and apparel sales rep from Minersville, Utah.  He races Alaskan huskies and has been mushing for 5 years.  He ran the 100 mile Race to the Sky in 2015 and also ran the 8 Dog Classic at Jackson, Wyoming and the open class at Ashton, Idaho.  In the lead will be Garlic and Curry.

Charmayne Morrison is a 19 year old college student from Bozeman, Montana.  She has been mushing for 6 years, running the Junior Race to the Sky when she was younger and finishing the 100 mile Race to the Sky last year in third place.  She got started in dogs as a project in middle school and ended up getting hooked.  She is learning about mid and distance racing from our Race Marshall, Rob Greger.

Christina Gibson is a 19 year old marketing person from Carlton, Washington.  She has been mushing for 6 years, racing Alaskan huskies.  She placed third at the Eukanuba 8 dog Class in Jackson, first place in the 2018 Junior Race to the Sky and a Jr. Iditarod Sportsmanship Award winner as well.  In the lead will be Farce and Sike.

Scott White is a 55 year old construction worker from Snohomish, Washington.  He has been mushing 22 years, racing Alaskan huskies, Mark Stamm background.   He has run the Race to the Sky in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012 and ran the Iditarod in 2007, 2010 and 2018.

Spencer Reiss (Rice) is a 21 year old student from Bozeman.  He has been mushing for 3 years, racing his Alaskan huskies and also dogs from Anduril Kennels of Bozeman.  He recently has run the West Yellowstone and the Darby Sled Dog Races.  This is his first Race to the Sky.
