350 MILE RACE

WALKER, GERRY, cowboy, rancher, from Pierceland, Saskatchewan, Canada, operates Smoky Hill Huskies with spouse, Brenda, been mushing for 11 years, races Alaskan Huskies, Swingley background, raced the Canadian Challenge 9 times (1st place three times), the Ft. St. James B.C. 150, and the La Rough 120, in the lead is Clyde and Cookie, first Race to the Sky.

MEARS, NICHOLAS, 25 year old dog musher from Australia, runs dogs from Smoky Hill Huskies, this is his first year dog mushing, runs Alaskan Huskies, Swingley background, hobbies include travelling and the outdoors, this is his first Race to the Sky.

DAUGEREAU, LAURA, 30 year old carpenter/builder from Port Gamble, Washington, operates Night Runner Kennel, loves reading, free running dogs and the gym, been mushing for 15 years, races Alaskan Huskies, in the lead will be Helen, Wylie, and Dom, She won the 2013 Eagle Cap Extreme, finished the last year’s Race to the Sky 350’s in second place and this is her eighth Race to the Sky.

THYR, JOSI, 19 year old insurance agent from Cataldo, Idaho, in the lead will be Summer, Zoomey, Mambo, Legolas and Razz, been mushing for 7 years, races Alaskan Huskies, ran Race to the Sky 2011 Junior Race and finished in third place, this is her first Race to the Sky, sponsors are Scheffelmair Meats, Continental Kennel Club, and Mark Thyr Insurance Agency.

BRUGGEMAN, BRETT, 42 year old dentist from Great Falls, Montana, operates Skinny Leg Sleddogs with his spouse, Suzette, in the lead will be Earl, Auke, Silver, Jude, and Harley, been mushing for one year, raced the Rodeo Run in December, first Race to the Sky.

IBSEN, MARK, 57 year old medical doctor at Urgent Care Plus of Helena, Montana, operates Last Chance Kennels, been mushing for 12 years, has finished the Beargrease, ran 12 Race to the Sky races, finishing third last year, received the Sportsmanship Award at Race to the Sky 2012, sponsored by Urgent Care Plus of Helena.

PALFREY, WARREN, 37 year old plumber, gas-fitter, and dog musher from Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada, operates Northern Star Kennels with spouse, Kate, been mushing for 27 years, leaders are Black Dog, Widgi, Torres, Caper, Oyster, and Hula, races Alaskan Huskies, raced Jackson Stage Stop 2012 and  won Race to the Sky 2012, ran several Iditarods and 2009 Yukon Quest, sponsored by Northern Star Kennels.

BILLY SNODGRASS, 56 year old tour operator and dog food company owner from Dubois, Wyoming, operates Distance Dog Food Race Team, been mushing 30 years, leaders are Blue Duck and Alien, races Alaskan Huskies, his first race was the Race to the Sky, since then, has raced Iditarod, Canadian Challenge, Eagle Cap, Beargrease, Race to the Sky, and many others, his fourth Race to the Sky.

ALEA ROBINSON, 17 year old student from Eagle River, Alaska, running Royer Alaskan Huskies, been mushing for 14 years, enjoys running, hiking, Icelandic horses, and traveling, in the lead will be Buff, Ninja, Rita, and Azul, has run several  Jr. Tustumena races, 2011 Jr . Iditarod, and came in second in Jr. Race to the Sky in 2012, her first 350 Race to the Sky, sponsored by Dr. Bob Sept, Thai Village, Alaska Children’s Heart Center, and Jessie Royer.

JESSIE ROYER, 36 year old dog musher and wrangler, living in Darby, Montana, operates The J Team Kennel, has run Iditarod ten times and in the top ten 3 times, received the Rookie of the Year Award at Iditarod, has run Minnesota’s John Beargrease 500 mile marathon, Wyoming’s Stage Stop, Canada’s Northern Lights Challenge, and La Grand Odyssey in France,  and was the youngest and first female to win Race to the Sky 500 at age 17, will be running a young team, first Race to the Sky since she won it in 1994, sponsors are Triple Creek Ranch, Herb Lanese, Spirit of the North Sled Dog Adventures and lots of friends.

100 MILE ADULT RACE

CAMPEAU, JASON, 38 year old chief operating office for Maplesoft Group and vice president of business development for CMG Sports, from Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, operates Atka Kennel with spouse Jennifer, been mushing for one year, races Seppela Siberians and Alaskan Huskies, enjoys horseback riding in his spare time, in the lead will be GQ and Lenny, this is his first Race to the Sky 100.

ETNIRE, ROY, 57 year old millwright from Seeley Lake, Montana, operates Mystik North Sledding Kennel, been mushing for 4 years, races Alaskan Huskies, Cindy Gallea background, recently ran the Eagle Cap 100, leaders are Sidney, Willow, and Emilia, this is his first Race to the Sky 100.

STEVE RIGGS, 57 year old auto mechanic from Olney, Montana, operates Snowbound Kennel with spouse Wendy Riggs, been mushing for 17 years, races Alaskan Huskies, in the lead will be Fonzie and Callie, this is his second Race to the Sky, won 2013 Eagle Cap 100, sponsors are Wendy Riggs and Continental Kennel Club.

NEAL BOWLEN, 37 year old tour operator from Park City, Utah, operates Pawsatch Snow Dogs, LLC, been mushing for 6 years, races Alaskan Huskies and driven Malamutes, recently ran the Rodeo Run, leaders are Streak, Ghost, Dottie and T-Rex, this is his first Race to the Sky 100, sponsor is Pawsatch Snow Dogs, LLC.

MARGARET BLACK, 54 year old professor from Pullman, Washington, operate Snowdance Siberians, been mushing for 16 years, races purebred Siberian Huskies, recently ran 2013 Cascade Quest (second place in 100 mile race), Norman Vaughan Serum Run in 2007, 2009 and 2011, in the lead will be Papaya and Mango, this is her first Race to the Sky 100.

100 MILE JUNIOR RACE

FERRARO, AIYANA, 15 year old student from Victor, Montana, operates Storm Blaze Kennels with mom and dad, Doug and Jennifer, recently raced the Darby Dog Derby, 2012 Jr. Iditarod, and 2010, 2011, & 2012 Junior Race to the Sky, races Alaskan Huskies, leaders are Dingo, Delux, Kinta, and Bonanza, 4th in 2012 Jr. Race to the Sky, sponsors are CKC, Northwind Distributing & Sleds and Chuck Pagani.

JENNY GREGER, 17 year old student from Livingston, Montana, family operates Anduril Kennels, races West Yellowstone Classic, Jr. Iditarod, won 2011 and 2012 Jr. Race to the Sky, in the lead will be Alice and Bella, just finished Wyoming’s Stage Stop, ourth Jr. Race to the Sky, sponsored by Dr. Sid Erickson, Dr. Sue Geske, and Double Diamond Vet Clinic.
